 Accelerated Change and the Crises of European Identities

Thomas Hylland Eriksen (University of Oslo)

Professor Eriksen will draw on research by himself and others on “super-diversity” in European cities and new patterns of migration. He will elaborate how Europe’s ongoing economic crisis and the rise of neo-nationalist movements contribute to reconfiguring collective orientations across the continent.

The Program Committee is now accepting abstracts for 20-minute individual papers or panels and special sessions (of up to four 20-minute papers) on Greek Studies, Greece and Cyprus in modern times. Approaches from all disciplines in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts and from interdisciplinary fields are welcome; comparative perspectives are encouraged.
