SAE Statement of Solidarity and Call to Action after Earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria

On February 14, 2023 by Ognjen Kojanić

The SAE executive board wish to express our deepest sympathy and solidarity to all our members affected by the devastating earthquakes in Southeast Turkiye and Northwest Syria. We acknowledge the immense distress, grief and frustration that they are experiencing, and recognize their own efforts to publicize and support relief operations. In the aftermath of the earthquakes, tens of thousands in the region have lost their lives, while hundreds of thousands have been made homeless and lack shelter, water, fuel and electricity in freezing conditions. The need for assistance is huge. We urge our members to contribute generously to organizations carrying out emergency relief work. Non-governmental organizations identified as reliable and trustworthy by our colleagues with knowledge of local conditions include:

In Turkiye:

AHBAP Foundation: https://ahbap.org/disasters-turkey

AKUT Foundation: https://www.akut.org.tr/en/donation

In Syria:

White Helmets: https://www.whitehelmets.org/en/
